Visual Arts – Primary

At SISHK, we believe everyone can enjoy and achieve in art and design. Art shapes our everyday lives. It can be playful, imaginative, make a social statement, or be purposeful. It is a means of expression and allows our students to explore the styles of artists that can inspire their own work or simply appreciate and celebrate aesthetic beauty.

Framework for 21st Century Competencies and Student Outcomes.

Innovative Thinking

Art enables us to look beyond and leads people to create for the sake of expression and meaning and different purposes. We aim to develop our students’ creativity through problem solving skills.

Exploration and Discovery

In Primary Years, our children explore drawing, painting, printmaking, illustration, collage, textiles, sculpture and digital art. This helps them to further develop their tactile, cognitive, and visual spatial skills. The students record, develop and evaluate different creative ideas in their sketchbooks.

Grow Connected

Our students create their own art and work in larger groups with their peers. From P1,  the students are taught that art can not only be created for themselves, but also our community and our world. Our Community Involvement Programme gives our students the opportunity to create artwork for others such as the elderly, working with simple and specific materials to design everyday items such as kites, tote bags and tissue paper covers
