Music – Secondary

Music... will help dissolve your perplexities and purify your character and sensibilities, and in time of care and sorrow, will keep a fountain of joy alive in you. Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Without music, there will be no joy.  Music sparks the joy in us!

Music learning and making can be seen everywhere at any time in the School. We will see our students listening to music during lunch times and sharing their latest favourite hits with their friends. Or our students could be found making music in the music rooms, be it practising for an assignment or an exam, or simply playing music as a group for collaborative work.

In the classroom, students undertake a range of joyful activities; including solo performances, group performances, compositions, improvisations, group discussions and presentations to name a few. This offers our students various platforms and opportunities to demonstrate their understanding, provide peer feedback for improvement and build on their aesthetic creativity.

We also recognise that a love of Music does not begin nor end with our classroom practice.

Our students also engage in enrichment programmes and exciting experiences that extend beyond the classroom, such as participation in the Inter-house Music Competition, Hong Kong Schools Music Festival competitions, and the Joint Schools Music Competitions.  Other platforms for performance include the annual  Family Festival Music concert, Morning Assembly music performance and the annual music recitals.

Our annual Inter-house Music Competition took place in November.  This year, we had a Band competition where musicians from each house formed a band and competed on the stage.
